Carneddau plane wrecks

Iain, Bella, Fly and I headed to the seclusion of the Carneddau for yesterdays bank holiday. Iain had found some grid references for a few plane wrecks in the area, so we combined a long run with some navigation practice to search for the pieces of twisted metal.

We started from Cwm Eigiau, where the heather blooming over the fields was amazing, and ran up over Foel Grach. From here we navigated to the first crash site which we found quite quickly, however the second site on the slopes of Foel-fras did not match the grid reference given (see Carneddau No. 11 -GR 699675. Sourced from aircraft-wreckage-in-snowdonia), however we figured it out from the description and found the wreck quite quickly.

The weather was starting to crap out and I was feeling buggared after a hard week of running, especially after racing the Cnicht race yesterday, so we headed back to the car.

BTW, the aircraft wreckage in Snowdonia site has changed his URL, killing your link...
