Cows were the theme of the day. From garden decorations at brunch at the cute hut just past Champex, to the real thing obstructing our path at the top of..... Bovine. We had been keen to check out the route over Bovine after hearing tales of how rough it was - but infact it's ok - very steep on the ascent but otherwise a good track and an easy - if long - descent into Col de la Forclaz. We dropped down into the valley then climbed a short while to wild camp alongside Nant Noir, where sleeping under the stars turned to a hasty 1am tent putting up activity after Iain's (correct) premonition of rain... and lightning. I spent the next hour counting Mississippi's between lightning strikes and thunder.
